Backup client homeserver

Privacy policy

This personal application backs up the account owner's home photo and video library to their Google Drive account. It is operated for the owner's use.

Data accessed and stored

The application reads the owner's selected original photos and videos, an Immich database dump, and recovery configuration from their home server. Database records may contain personal information and media metadata. The backup client encrypts this data before transferring it to Google Drive.

Google authorization tokens and the dedicated OAuth client configuration are stored privately on the owner's server. The backup encryption password is stored separately from the cloud repository. Tokens and passwords are not published on this website.

Google permissions

The scheduled backup remote uses drive.file permission to create and manage its backup repository. A separate owner-operated rclone remote uses full Google Drive permission (drive) to browse, download and manage Drive files when requested by the owner. Those operations may read file names and contents needed for the requested transfer or management action. The client also checks available account storage. It does not request Gmail or Google Photos access.

Use and sharing

Google data is used to store, verify, restore and expire the owner's backups, and to perform Drive browsing and file operations explicitly requested by the owner. The application does not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train machine-learning models. Google stores the encrypted backup objects under the account owner's Google service terms and privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

The configured policy keeps recovery points within 30 days of the latest successful backup, normally about 30 daily snapshots. Expiration occurs after a new successful backup and verification; failures can delay deletion. Encrypted blocks shared by retained snapshots remain stored while needed. Expired repository objects are deleted without keeping an additional Drive-trash copy.

The owner can stop the backup schedule, remove backup data from their account, or revoke the application's access through their Google Account's connected-app settings. Revoking access does not automatically delete previously stored backups.
